Meghan Helwig, Doctor of Physical Therapy, is an expert in manual therapy maintaining a Full Body Certification in Active Release Techniques (ART) and Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) Level 3. She is also a Level 3 Titleist Performance Institute Medical and Fitness provider.
Dr. Meghan primarily focuses on performance enhancement, functional movement, manual therapy, and corrective exercise. Due to her extensive background and deep understanding of how the body functions at both peak performance and when compensating for an injury, she is sought out by athletes of all levels from the Elite/Pro Athletes such as NFL, NHL, and NBA players, triathletes, golfers, Crossfitters, to the everyday athlete and weekend warrior.
Dr. Meghan’s expertise in movement assessment, helps her clients find the answer to their “WHY am I injured?” by unveiling the underlying cause of the symptoms. Dr. Meghan incorporates a combination of the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), NKT, and other movement based tests to identify the source of discomfort*ful dysfunction. When she discovers the root cause, she then incorporates some of the many available tools and resources, such as ART, Instrument Assisted Soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), spinal mobilization, and taping to correct the dysfunction, reset the body and improve discomfort*free performance.
A New Jersey native, Dr. Meghan earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from The University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ (now Rutgers University) Her passion for physical therapy was born from her own experience recovering from an injury she sustained while training for a half-Ironman.
Being a competitive athlete her entire life, Dr. Meghan understands the demands one places on their body to perform at a high level. Dr. Meghan’s athletic career started with swimming, gymnastics, field hockey and golf. She went on to be the starting Goalie all 4 years at Villanova for the Div. 1 Big East Field Hockey Team. After college she continued to compete at an elite level in triathlon. In 2015 she started competing in Crossfit and within 2 years finished in the top 200 in the world for the 2017 Crossfit Open Masters Age 35-39 group.
