Why did you get into chiropractic?

I have a background as a collegiate athlete (swimming) and a personal trainer before attending chiropractic school. I always had  a passion for helping people move better and feel better as a trainer, but wanted to learn more. Chiropractic saved me after a bad car accident in college, and so naturally it was the perfect fit to further my education.

Tell us about your practice. Where, and what do you specialize in?

I practice at a multi-disciplinary practice in Glenview, IL (northern suburb of Chicago). We are very much a family practice. I have patients spanning from under a year old to well into their 70’s! Our focus is Chiropractic and Holistic Medicine. My passion is helping my patients obtain physical, nutritional, and emotional balance. While I LOVE the physical aspect of practicing (adjusting, soft tissue work, and exercise rehabilitation) I also have seen how imperative it is to address nutrition and emotional well-being to facilitate healing.

What was your first experience with RockTape?

I took my first FMT seminar very early on in my schooling! A friend suggested it to me, and this was before the seminars were being taught very often. I believe there were just a handful of students there! I fell in love with not only the product but the philosophy of taping movements! Little did I know, that seminar would later lead to publishing a research study using RockTape with a colleague of mine while during school, which was quite the undertaking but very rewarding! You can read the article, here.

How do you use RockTape in your practice?

I use RockTape for SO many things in office! My favorite way to use it though, I would say, is in cases of injury.  Sprained ankles, thrown out backs, tension headaches, I could go on and on. It yields such immediate results for discomfort*, injury, and inflammation…my patients are hooked!  Screen Shot 2016-07-21 at 11.57.33 AM

What’s your favorite RockTape pattern?

Nothing beats a classic.  I love the traditional tape!  My trademark pattern is the pink skull, hands down! Perfect for all the bad a#$ women out there!

If you could change one behavior of your patients, what would it be?

If I could change one thing about my patients’ behavior, I would have to go with diet. If everyone ate a well balanced, organic, healthy diet (with protein!!) that sets the foundation for health. My job would be much easier! A healthy diet removes inflammation, gives the body the nutrient profile to heal and regenerate, stabilizes blood sugar (energy levels), and mood….who doesn’t want that!

Where do you think Chiropractic care is headed? What’s the future of it?

I just returned from an amazing Chiropractic conference called California Jam. For all you chiros (and office staff) out there, sign up for next year! The conference was focused on the reality of healthcare and the state of our environment and what we can do about it! There is a movement happening in our country right now, people are looking for alternatives to medication and surgery; I see it every day! I believe chiropractors (if we step up) are becoming the voice of preventative and wellness care instead of sick care. We are absolutely the best at treating musculoskeletal conditions but can also do so much for our patients in educating them about living a healthy lifestyle and preventing serious disease down the road. In the future I am hopeful that chiropractors are patient’s first line of defense, and then allopathic care, if necessary.
